Fundación En Vía is a non-profit microfinance organization working to combine the power of microfinance with the power of tourism to fight poverty.
Based in Oaxaca, Mexico, we run socially responsible day-long tours to the Zapotec town of Teotitlán del Valle, where participants get to meet women who are applying for micro-loans. Participants learn about the town, and the women's lives and businesses - which could be anything from weaving the beautiful rugs the town is famous for, to raising chickens, making tortillas or selling flowers in the market. At the end of the tour, 100% of the tour fee goes as an interest-free microloan to the women we visited.
